DIY: Romantic Flowering Headband

Hey everyone! Despite this unseasonably warm weather, I've still been in the mood for seasonal, lovely + romantic crafts. There's only a few more weeks till V-day to sort them all out! I saw a cool headband on BHLDN the other day and really loved it, but true to my cheap-o form, I found a way to make one instead (minus the feathers because I'm too cool for that shit). ;) Perfect for an upcoming romantic date.

What you'll need: two colors of scrap fabric (main color 10" long, contrasting color about 14"), a needle and thread, a hot glue gun and a cheapie headband.

Okay, let's get started!

Step 1: Using the main flower color, fold your piece in half (like a hot dog) and sew the top corner down to the bottom of piece where the two edges meet. Then do a very lose running stitch along the bottom, scrunching it and twisting it to a flower shape as you go.

Step 2: When you reach the end of the piece, sew it to the back, securing it well. Then take the contrasting petal color and sew it to the back. Make a loop, sew in place. Repeat this for three or so petals behind the main flower. Do not use the whole length of your fabric - leave a five inch or so tail!

Step 3: Place your flower on the headband where you'd like it to be placed. Sew the flower to the headband (going around the headband and through the flower) four to five times. Then, take the tail and wrap it around the end of the headband. Secure with hot glue.

& Voila! A headband for a Valentine's Day date. Flowers in the hair are always a good bet for Vday. <3

This headband may even be perfect for a lovely Cat Birthday Party. Today is a very special day - my babies are turning five!!!!!

They're growing up so fast but are still my little weirdos who loveee crafts. Candle making was a fun experiment for them.  Fun fact - when they were kittens and still too small to roam the whole house, I used to take them into my room when I sewed so we could spend time together. The machine scared them so they hid from it under my bed at first, but then they grew to love that old machine and would walk through it while I was sewing! I'll be around, lovelies... celebrating a cat birthday.  -Amina
