Part two, crafties- here we go!
Making your own pouf is not really difficult, and for some of you, this may be the entire project- no crocheting involved. However, if you do want the crocheted effect, you should just use a cheap, plain fabric or scraps of whatever you have laying around. You won't be able to see it under the crocheted layer, so it doesn't matter.
Materials:
1 yard of fabric
2 inch foam
Quilt batting
How To:
1. Decide on a size and cut your foam: Cut 2-3 circles of the foam in this size. [I only had enough foam for two circles, with scraps, so I took the scraps and formed them into a third layer sandwiched between the two circles. See layers one, two and three below.]
2. Cut fabric for a cover: The top is a circle. Cut two circles an inch wider than the foam circles. Cut a rectangle the width of the foam layers and long enough to span the entire circle.
3. Decorate: If you want to make the cover decorative, do it now. I made circles on the side pieces and put a flower on the top. There won't be any turning back if you don't do it now.. or there will be, but it will be much harder!
4. Put the circle together: Sew the two circles together, good ends in but don't close. Cut circles to fit inside the piece from the quilt batting and stuff inside. Sew the circle shut.
4. Layer the outside of the foam with batting: Cut two layers of batting to the size of the rectangular piece. Sew them to the rectangular piece.
5. Sew the cover together: Sew the top circle to the rectangular piece. Sew ends of the rectangular piece together. The inside should look like the picture below.
6. Add in your foam, and voila! A completed pouf. Not as hard as you might have thought, huh?
