This post is focused on what I've been working with for a year- the inspiration to transform the original project. I decided to start here because it's necessary to show you what the end goal was and the inspiration for it before showing how to make it. My inspiration has come from many sources around the web and is a culmination of many others' projects, inspirations and ideas, so I wanted to make sure I took the time to give credit where it's due to the creative realm.
Let's start first with... what is the project?!?! It's a pouf- similar to a floor pillow or a floor cushion to give decorative and adorable extra seating.
Long ago (about a year) I made this pouf.
But I wasn't happy with it. I didn't love the pattern or the inspiration or the colors, so I have been looking for something to do with it (besides throw it out).
I surf the web a lot looking for inspiration. I love to see what other crafters and artists are doing to get ideas for my next projects. A while ago, I stumbled upon these cute knitting patterns from Pickles..
The Puff Daddy
and Puff Daddy's baby.
Unfortunately, though, these patterns deal in circular knitting needles, which are not my friends, so I never went for the gold in transforming my pouf to this. I left the project again for another time.
Recently, I stumbled upon a new blog that I now LOVE- Wise Craft. Two of her recent posts got my creative juices flowing back in the direction of the pouf. One was on her wintery homey inspirations- pinterest, and the other was of a crocheting pattern she put together - sweater cozies for candle holders.
A photo from Re-Nest she blogged about. How adorable is that crocheted pouf?!? And it's a coffee table!!
Her crocheted sweater cozies for candle holders. Too cute.
These recent discoveries put me right back on track to recreate my pouf to fit the cozy wintery theme I'm craving in my life right now. Since I wasn't planning on knitting a cover for the pouf (too complicated), this crochet pattern of the sweater cozies was really appealing to my tastes- definitely worth at least a shot!
This was my inspiration in transforming this...
to this!
Next up is the tutorial- how to make a pouf! See you soon :)
